RAA online submission now open!
Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics (RAA) is now calling for submissions of Letters and original research Papers in all research areas of astronomy and astrophysics. Invited Review articles are also being sought. The journal's new homepage has been launched and a full online system for manuscript submission is now open. Submission guidelines and information about the new Editorial Board can be found on the website.

Announcement and Call for Papers from the Scientific Editors
We are pleased and proud to announce that a new peer-reviewed international journal, Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics (RAA), will be launched in the coming International Year of Astronomy, 2009. The new journal has been established by transforming the bi-monthly journal Chinese Journal of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ChJAA) into a monthly journal, and by involving scientific co-operation with several neighbouring countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

RAA will be a journal of excellence and representative to the rapidly growing research in astronomy and astrophysics, not only in China, but the whole Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The journal has a distinguished Editorial Board with extensive academic qualifications, ensuring high academic standards and broad international coverage. RAA will be a non-commercial journal with no page charges. New papers published in RAA will be free to download for all readers for the first month. The journal aims to provide a forum for the rapid dissemination and communication of original research as well as reviews in astronomy and astrophysics.

As scientific editors, we sincerely invite you to submit papers. The journal is now accepting letters, invited reviews and original research papers. Topics covered by RAA include all the research areas in astronomy and astrophysics. The website of the journal (http://raa-journal.org) and the web-based peer review system for manuscripts will be opened in early September. Information including submission guidelines and Editorial Board membership will appear on our website. Before the formal opening of the journal website, you can submit your manuscripts electronically at chjaa@bao.ac.cn or through the ChJAA website www.chjaa.org, where instructions for authors and the LaTeX style file can be found.

We will make every effort to ensure that the refereeing and publication processes are very fast. If you submit your paper before the end of September, it may still be possible to publish it in the historic first issue if the referee recommends publication or asks for minor changes only. We look forward to receiving your manuscripts!
